the LEARNING curve

Met with Adam's teacher yesterday to discuss his progress in school.. YES! that's it.. Adam is not even 2 years old yet, but he has started to sit in classes to just do a few activities, and learn.. This is the kind of learning that I expect him to be involve in anyway.. I want him to have a few friends, get to mix around with his peers, and learn that 'learning' is actually fun!

Adam had times when he hate going to school.. kalo dah hantar tu, he'll want to masuk balik kereta.. Na and Atok used to takut2 kan die about school.. like: "Adam noti nanti atok hantar school nak?".. That kind of stuff, makes he hate school.. He used to just sit at the back, not wanting to socialise, and sleep most of the time.. I wonder why?

But now, thankfully.. after die dah dapat his mulut ni.. banyak cakap.. get to express what he wants, his feelings.. he started to socialise even more.. dah boleh pujuk pegi school.. this week, when I send him to the school gate.. he'll hold my hands, sampai depan pintu.. take off his shoes..put it on the rack.. and salam me.. kiss on the cheecks, and lastly on the mouth.. then say bye2.. oh, and before he leaves the house, he also said bye2 to his pet turtle.. hahaha...

Its just his routine that I have to make sure he follows.. is not, he'll be upset, and merajuk xnak gi school. Yesterday, knowing that his teacher is looking into his progress the same way I look into it.. and she realises what Adam needs to be working on.. gives me such a relief.. I've chosen the right school for Adam.. FUUUUHHHHH....... lega.. This is the reason why I have a strong opinion about good education, and good teachers.. Good teachers cater for the individual needs of their students. And I do believe that every children deserve that opportunity to good education..

What it feels like to be young

Today, Adam went to visit his one-day old cousin Adelia Jasmine. Tetibe die pun macam excited jumpe baby. "Baby min" that's what he manage to say. He suddenly terasa nak naik katil la.. and super extra manja with atok and na. Not to mention, with Dahlia as well.

At home, its Dahlia's first time on the walker. I didnt really want to put her on the walker yet, since she cant even crawl yet. BUT, to be honest.. Dahlia loves when she's put to a standing position. Die suke didirikan. Lagi la kaki die melonjak2, macam nak lompat2 dah.. So I thought, well mama cant really tahan pegang you the whole day.. why not you try on the walker for tonite, and let mama's hand rest for a while.. hehe.. And guess what?? sape yang lebih excited?? (besides Dahlia.. of course she loves the walker straight away..)

Adam decided to try on the walker again.. "What does it feels like to be a baby balik?" hahaha.. He asked to be put in the walker, then... asyik panggil2 orang lain suruh tengok at him.. hahaha.. sooooo cheeky..I guess, he also wonders what it feels like to be young again..

Today, what I realised is that.. it is actually FUN kalo sekali sekala dapat refresh balik what it feels like to go back down the memory lane.. Tu yang kalo dapat pakai balik baju kawin dulu tu.. I was SUPER excited!! GRINNING the whole day.. Kalo orang mistakenly ingat I'm still single (anak dara), lagi la GRINNING.. or was it tersengeh??.. kehkehkeh..

CRAZY-ness that needs to be dealt with

Everyone has their own CRAZY-ness over something.. Adam? Crazy-ness over his pacifier, Geram-ness over Dahlia.. (which yesterday tetibe Adam tarik rambut Dahlia for no reason..geram ntah kenape ntah.. dah la Dahlia punye rambut sikit.. macam upin ipin je.. huhuhuh).. Adam now loves to play wrestling..We will try to tolak me (from my sitting position) so that I will fall on my back.. and immediately he'll sit on me, as though die menang the wrestling la.. huhuhu what a cheeky monkey.

He's also has this thing, where he loves to watch HIS video.. (the one that I took of him doing stuff like during his mandi times, during his counting one-six-nine-ten.. and etc).. He also loves looking at his own photos.. and then he'll smile and laugh at it.. hahaha.. so funny..

Me? I develop this new CRAZY-ness that I'm not proud of.. which is online shopping.. Its so difficult for me to shop in shopping mall now, that I have two small kids with me.. Adam will start running around the mall, wanting me to catch him.. while papa will have to either carry Dahlia, or tolak her in the stroller.. So, basically there's NO WAY I can get any shopping done.. huhu.. Except if Amii and Da (my sister and her hubby) tag along and take one of the kids to entertain.. hehe

So, a few of my favourite websites are:
Smashing Scarves by Lea Shmea

Where they have such a pretty scarves.. I LOVE them to the bits.. keep on buying like crazy, but cepat sangat sold out.. So those who read my blog.. jangan rebut2 tau..bagi la I beli dulu.. hehehe.. One of the scarves that I love wearing is:

Also, another blog that I quite like is:
LippyLito

But this, I'm still waiting for them to start their own collection. hehe.. Come on Mun and geng.. start the collection!!

This one, just started to shop here.. really nice cotton stuff.. hehe
*Fabulous Cotton* | For Cotton Lover | Kain Cotton cantik & ekslusif
Pun, cepat sangat run out of stock.. huhu.. Girls out there.. jangan la berebut2.. heheh...

And for my kids, some of the site I love is:
BB Luvs Me - Malaysian Baby Clothes Online
Most of their baju raya has already been bought. haha.. laju x mama shopping..

Online shopping is not just about saving time.. but also the site that I love semuanya are very reliable, and efficient with their service.. Thanks!! So, sape lagi nak recommend kan sites yg bagus2?? hehe

Seeing them grow...

My two babies means the world to me.  (Most parents feel that way too, right? ) And watching them grow, is such a blessing. I realised that my son is getting more and more clever, but at the same time mischievous. He's growing up into becoming the clown of the house, which not only makes me hilang stress, but also put a smile on my face everyday.

Yesterday, Adam wanted to be all independent, where he refused to let me bathe him. He wants to do it himself. Watching him giggle while mandi sendiri was so funny. He had always love to play with water, ever since he's a baby.

When I sent him to school yesterday morning, (I mean nursery), he handed me his pacifier for me to keep at home. Even though seeing him taking the few last suck (chot chot) of his pacifier shows he 's really reluctant to say goodbye, but he's taking that big step now. Congrats Adam!!

I wish I can make BIG steps too.. Growing up to be a better person.

Adam wants a friend to play with...

A mother of two infants (below age of 2) are just hectic. Full with kecoh-ness, and reminders "Adam, jangan kacau Dahlia!", "Adam poo-poo ke?", "Dahlia nak milk?", "Adam, why is Dahlia crying?" and so on.. Its always about the children first. In a day, kadang2 if I didnt get the chance to talk to my husband, that's quite normal. Or even if we are talking, its always about our children first. Eg: "Dahlia tido ok ke smalam?", "Adam makan banyak x tadi?", "Dahlia dah makan ubat today?".. You get the point right?

So, I do wonder... does this happen to most parents with small infants? Or should I start to get a life of my own now? my children still are a big part of my life, but I do feel that husband-wife relationship should also filled with grown-ups conversations.. Am I right??

At the moment I realised that my son x pandai sangat main with other kids of his age. He only plays with Dahlia, and the grown-ups. So my plan is actually to find a playmate for Adam, to teach him to play with other kids of his age. At the moment, Adam memang dah di hantar to the nursery, however he didnt join the other kids to play, and he's more of a loner in the nursery. I strongly feels that this is because he's scared to join in a big crowd, therefore I want to start him of with a one to one session perhaps. Plus, its good for mama and papa to make good conversations with other adults too right?

So, is any of my friends out there would like their son / daughters to be Adam's friend? Come and lets get together for a catching up session of our own, and let our kids play and be friends too.. :D

A day of fun = back pain

Today is a day of fun with Adam. Went for a field trip with students of form 1 (Klang school) to Aquaria KLCC. And Adam joined in as well.. Started off with sooooo lambat to warm up, didnt want to smile, so serious looking.. But then slowly, and steadily... he joined in. Early in the morning, started with waking him up early and suruh mandi.. It was tough.. I told him that we are going to ride a real train today.. So, he woke up with a smile, ajak turun bawah.. then die naik his toy train, saying choo-choo...then, bile ajak mandi the 2nd time.. he goes "na nak!!", coz he's already riding a train.. no point why he needs to mandi.. hahaha..

Then, we had to send Dahlia to school.. sedih je, she cant tag along.. but she's still kecik, wont understand anyway... after that, mama has to stop at a petrol pump, and Adam wants to turun to go to the shop.. he said he wants popok (which is keropok / crisps).. ish! rosak la my son ni.. huhu.. Then baru la we started our journey.. he's happily makan popok, and we sang 'the wheels on the bus' all the way..

Arriving at the Aquaria, was interesting for him.. moving from one spot to another was quite slow, as he had to wave goodbye to each fish before we move to the next.. hahaha.. giler lama.. but then, seeing the other animals, like otter... he point and say "cat".. sorry otter, Adam only knows very limited animals. hehe.. after about 2 o'clock, then only he let me change his diapers, as he said "mama!, wet!!".. hehe.. Adam dah kene potty training ni.. mama je malas.. haha..

too tired.. x bleh tahan mata dah.. haha

Coming home, he was exhausted, that he fell asleep instantly. But then after dinner time, suddenly his nakal, out of nowhere datang in double dose.. He's suppose to help me lipat baju.. took a panty and ran off.. he wore it by himself, then giggle non-stop..When I tried to take it away form him, he ran off, took of the panty and started to put it on his head.. hahahaha.. so funny, I was trying really hard to scold him, at the same time trying to stop laughing..How I wish my life was as simple, and as happy as Adam's. Even a panty can make him soooooo happy tonite.. hahaha..

Well then in my case, I hope PB can make me happy, as my back was really aching because the whole day today I spent either carrying Adam.. or jalan2.. mostly carrying Adam.. huhu..10 kgs = berat beras beg besar tu.. huhuhu..

Change the way you see things..

I never really plan how I lead my life... Usually things fall according to what I believe is the best for me.. I fall in love with my hubby, agak awal la jugak.. didnt really plan for it to happen.. it just did.. It was my first love, and we got married quite young as well.. at the age of 21.. Then, I was pregnant with my first son, during my final year of study.. That was an unplanned joy as well.. hehe.. And after that another one came, after my son was only 1 year and 4 months old.. Pun unplanned joy...hmm, these are the doors that I opened with an open arms.. I accept it with joy and happiness.. And I realised that I am happy.. Thank you Allah.. And now, I do want to decide the doors that I open and close, to make me and my family lead a happy life.

Since I have kids of my own, I do see things in a different light.. I value some things more than before.. I interpret things differently as well.. For example, its our fun thing in the car if I can get my son to sing "the wheels on the bus" with me.. I love kissing him while he is sleeping soundly.. I love the smell of Dahlia when she wakes up in the morning (the smell of baby.. mmmmm).. not really the smell of Adam anyway, coz he'll smell very hancing due to the wet diapers.. :D I love seeing Adam all excited over a small thing, such as chocolate, seeing the birds close up, trying to touch the cat.. And I wonder.. Why did I not get this excited, happy feelings before.. Why did I not open to doors that will make me see life differently before..

Yesterday, there was this near accident happen at home.. Adam wanted to panjat his sister's rocking chair.. And then nak cube turun sendiri.. I was there, quite close to him.. I saw how he looks at what he's trying to do, as something huge.. He got all excited nak try to jump down, nampak like he's trying to impress me at the same time.. If only he could talk, I bet he'll say "Look mama!! I'm going to jump!!, I'm going to do this myself!".. But as a mum, I knew and I can sense that somehow, he's going to fall.. the rocking chair is not that stable, plus he's quite heavy and tembam ok.. However, I cant stop him from trying something new.. plus he has this excited-ness in his eyes..  In the end, I decided to let him jump, but I waited really close by to catch him if he falls.. That's what I did..

And of course, memang die jatuh pun.. Nearly fall flat on his face, but I sempat catch him 5 cm, before his nose touches the floor.. pheewwwww.... he felt surprised.. didnt cry, but has that satisfaction look in his eyes.. He said he wont do it again though..  From that incident, I learnt that, being a mother is tough.. You want to prevent bad things from happening, but at the same time you want to be the cool mum, you want only good things to happen.. you want to prevent accidents.. Hey, we are only mothers.. we are not angels!! not even a magician.. (I do wish I have magic powers sometimes though..) So, I learnt also that, I dont want to be a rigid mum.. I want my son to experience life.. if he falls, then I will be the one to tell him to get up and keep running.. If he wants to jump, I want to be the one telling him to aim high.. If he wants to sing, I want to tell him to sing his heart out.. But I also want to be the person who he comes to, when he need someone to listen to his complaints, when he needs someone to give advice and guidance.. and definitely if he needs me to rescue him.. Only if he needs me too..

I choose to be happy, and if this is the way to it, let it be.. Its hard to make everyone sees how you see things, but as long as you make yourself happy, then be it..

Mum, I want to make mistakes of my own..

Mothers always want the best for their children. No doubt about that, coz I'm a mother too..They will try all their best to see their children lead a happy life according to what they have set the picture in their mind. Mothers will not let their children make mistakes, watch them get hurt, or even fail in their life.. However, do we mothers ever wonder that:

1) The mistakes that our children make, will make them wiser, help them grow up, become more mature, and more responsible? this is what each and every person have to go through in life.. Make mistakes, and learn from it.. That's the learning curve..

2) Get hurt, physically or emotionally.. that's just what life is about.. "jangan lompat, nanti jatuh!!", "jangan bercinta masa belajar, nanti you'll get hurt if he dumps you!!", jangan lari, nanti jatuh, luke, sakit!!".. These are all that mothers worry about.. Kalo camtu, xkan anak2 tak belajar nak lompat? nak lari? nak bercinta? Xdapat la anak2 nak jadi pelari pecut, kalo takut jatuh.. Terpaksa la anak kita jadi andartu, atau bujang sampai mati kalo takut nak bercinta..

3) You will never fail in life, if whenever you fall down, you get up again, and learn something from it.. There's no such thing as a failure, if what you learn from it, makes you a better person in the future.. And the most important thing is, how do you define if someone is a failure or not? from whose perspective? dari mata siapa?

I know that mothers always wants the best for their children, but sometimes you just need to get loose, be more understanding, and just stay back and watch.. Let your children make mistakes once in a while, and be the person who they will come to, to ask for advice and guidance.. Dont be the one who they will run away from, and hide stuff from, just because they want to learn about life.. Happy Mother's Day to my mum.. Please mum, I want to make my own mistakes and learn from them too, so that I can grow up to be a better and wiser person.. :D

What to do when...

First time my baby boy kene chicken pox, was the same day as our family nak fly to Langkawi for a holiday.. So what did I do? hmmm, daripada let Adam stay at home and feel miserable, baik bawak die to Langkawi, let him visit the park, underwater world, bawak jalan2, even though he still feels the uneasiness, and miserable.. T least he seemed so excited to get to see and touch the birds.

Adam felt so miserable since his first day of chicken pox. He doesnt want to eat, nor drink milk. He merengek je, and wanted to be hugged all the time. But then when ubat time comes, sometimes he's ok with it, sometimes xnak.. He'll cry and says sakit... sakit.. all the time.. especially when I want to put calamine lotion on his body.. Mandi is also a hassle.. He cries and cries.. saying sakiiiiitttttt... Sedih tengok him when he's sick.. so, I let him have what ever he wants.. toys, chocolate, ice-cream, ribena.. but then, even ice cream pun he refused..

So, when time like this comes, I learn that its always good to take a deep breath, and take it slow.. Whatever needs to be done, take it at his pace.. kalo die xnak mandi lagi.. dont rush it.. let it be.. pujuk slow2, try to play with him first, then take the toys to the bathroom.. make it as though its fun.. Try not to raise your voice.. I know its hard.. especially when he's screaming and nothing seems to be right.. Nak wat camner kan.. die tgh sakit.. huhuhu... so, papa had to take care of Dahlia, while I jaga Adam.. when I dah x larat, we swap over.. And its a bonus when everyone else is around to help as well.. So, I ask Adam who he wants to give him a bath.. Adam nak siape basuh poo poo? Adam nak eat with siapa? nak sleep with siapa? so, whoever he choose, has to ikut la.. :D He became a boss this whole week..

There's just no easy way out.. I guess every parent has to go through this phase, where anak2 akan gilir2 sakit.. and all you can do is take a deep breath in, and take it slow.. when they're asleep, take a nap as well to re-energize youself..

Baby Jacuzzi

Saw this as one of the fancy stuff that is now in the market. Fuiyoooo!!! Dasyat giler, baby pun nak ada jacuzzi sendiri.. heheh

Is this suppose to spoil our young generations, or babies nowadays have too  much stress already being put by their parents expectation? hahaha.. But the baby in the picture memang nampak macam tengah destress kan? siap angkat tangan lagi.. heheh..I wonder if this is a good method of giving rewards to the children if they are well behave.. and the punishment stool, to be use when they are naughty.. hmm...

Big brother jealous

I'm not feeling well today. Thus the energy to melayan my two children cam off sket. Mase ni la, my son Adam, nak buat perangai pun. Coming back from school, he started to play with his toys for a few minutes, then.... mule la.. saja nak duduk atas riba mama, tarik tangan mama, semua nak ajak  mama main..

When my daughter Dahlia menangis and nak susu, Adam suddenly rampas botol. Xnak bagi.. And when Dahlia isap puting, pun die rampas.. Huhuhu.. kesian Dahlia..Not sure why, but sometimes his jealousy towards his sister, boleh datang tiba2.. Usually when he couldnt get his mama's attention. With papa, not so bad..Today, Adam buat perangai 'bab' (pukul) other people when he tak puas hati or angry at something. He has learned quite a few negative things, and I'm still trying to figure out what's the best way to teach him good manners. With Adam, I realised that if I say NO and marah2 him, he will most likely pretend to nangis, then do his tantrum ritual.. guling2 atas lantai, or start to pukul orang.. But if I say it nicely, and pujuk baik2, sometimes he listens, but there are times when he just ignore jugak.. huhu

My husband has this cool apps on his phone, where it shows cool and fancy stuff like this punishment stool. He showed me this and I thought, "hmmmmm.. what a nice thing to buy, and start putting Adam to this stool when he's being naughty". Cool ekh? What do you think?

Overcoming TANTRUMS!

To have a good communication, one has to understand the other, and vice versa. For me, talking to my son, giving instructions such as.. eat, go to sleep, put your dirty clothes in the basket, give this to Dahlia, go colour book,.. is ok, as he understood the instructions given. However, when he wants something, I can only understand part of it. His 'please..' sounded more like 'peh', and when he wants his puting (pacifier) he will say 'teh', when he wants milk, he'll say 'mek'..I tried really hard to listen to him, figure out and most of it just guessing what he's trying to say. But despite that, I guess I'm not doing my job well enough, because he has just started to develop this tantrums.

Out of no reason, he'll scream!!! and then roll on the floor crying his heart out. At first I thought that someone might have upset him, like say 'No' to what he wants.. But actually it's his way of telling me, "you are not listening to what I'm saying and what I want". How upsetting it must be for him. Any tips how this tantrums can be stopped as soon as possible without making it any worse??

I guess its the same thing thatcan happen in a husband-wife relationship, or mum-daughter, or even father-son relationship. When one person is trying to convey something, but his / her intention was interpreted the other way round, must be very very upsetting right? For me, my 'tantrums' may not be the same like what my son did, but its still a tantrum of silence that I usually put up. But for an adult, this can be prevented by honest, open communication. Dont hessitate to say what's on your mind, and if it doesnt come across in a way that you want the other person to understand, just try and re-word it to a simpler analogy. Usually that works. If not, just do whatever you feel right, and makes you happy. :D

Imagine when a pacifier can no longer work to soothe him.. OH NO!!!
